Spirit of 2010

About a month ago (seriously...how is it February already?!), I sat down to write my New Year’s resolutions but I just couldn’t come up with a list that inspired me. I have the same goals as many people….work out more, stress out less, eat better, serve more, and so on and so on. But recording those thoughts, and then trying to make them quantifiable, but not overwhelming, became a chore. And if I don’t even want to write them, I’m pretty sure I’m not going to want to do them.....

So I came up with an alternative. Rather than resolutions....I identified ten words that (I hope) will guide me through the new year.  Ta-da!

Yeah, they're general, and a little idealistic....but each word really resonates with me. I don't have a specific plan yet, but I do have some thoughts on how I can make these words "come to life"...so stay tuned!

So what about you? What words that will guide you in 2010?

I'm in good company...check out Rachel's "word of the year" too.

  1. wow. i had no idea you were so big in china. Glad to see 'sex' translates in any language though.

I like this blog post b/c it got me to think about words .... and who doesn't like that. I think my word will be:

    content

Content in the things that I have. Content in what I am able to accomplish. Content with the pace at which my daughter develops. Content with the strength my wife gives me.

In staring at the word I know it may resonate as 'complacent' or 'settling' but I don't see it that way. I've been struggling lately with expectations and I think this will help put my life into a bit more perspective.

So thanks Court ... for making me think about a word that will drive me this year.
